At what age does a macaw become an adult?

Hello there,
I surfed the Internet and the answer to this question varies a lot. Some say 2 1/2, some say 4 years and some even 7 years old. I was just wandering what age your (you bird board members) macaws became adults. Does in vary much according to type of macaw? What about B & G macaws?
Having an older already sexually active macaw, can it influence a younger macaw by becoming an adult sooner?
They mention that during puberty a macaw changes behavior and becomes mean, is it really that bad?

Sometimes (rarely) Louro (my B & G macaw) kind of wants to attack me. When I am sitting down next to him, he moves his body up and down, slightly opens up his wings, get's all tall and jumps towards me and tries to beak me several times. I don't recall him doing that before, is that a puberty/adult sign?

Thank you

From what my Avian Vet told me, adulthood is considered about 4 - 5 yrs old. Sexual maturity starts around 7 yrs old, although some, just like people, begin a little earlier or a little later.

Elliot is progressing at the average rate, I believe for a macaw.. He's 2 now and is acting like a 2 yr old. He is not half the handful Newt was at that age! LOL. He's my little sweetheart, but does have his "Scarlet moments"

Newt has developed much more quickly. He is 4 and is already in sexual maturity, which is highly unusual. He's my little brainiac. HE's done everything early.
