Question A little help with my baby?

Alright well petrie came from the vet and he has an upper respitory infection. Hes under weight from it. What i want to know is what are some thing i could do in addition to the medication for him to get better faster. Also since he is under weight can i feed him with a hand feeding tube thing. I was thinking of blending some seed, pellet, and a little peanut butter to feed him. Please help i want my baby to feel better as soon as possible. Thank you so much.

He might not accept handfeeding, and if so I wouldn't force it.

Keep him extra warm (80-87° is recommended for sick birds - with plenty of water/electrolytes) so his body doesn't have to extend any extra amount of energy in keeping him warm, but can work on battling the infection.

If he'll take the "blended" food then that's great, but you might also want to consider some other sort of nut butter that would be healthier for him. Feed him whatever he'll eat, too! If millet is a favorite, give him a stick to eat!

You might also want to ask your vet about DMG.

I have heard about seed being fattening..so that may be a good thing..but I know that it's not recommended for long term all the time. I'm still fighting with my fids over it. However, there are some warm foods like Beak Appitite veggie delight that I feed that has pasta and other things in it that may help with weight gain. It depends on what you can get them to eat, too... and a new food at this point would probably have to be tempting. When I first started feeding the warm 'birdie cereal' I added a little applesauce to it to get them to try it. I have heard of feeding oatmeal, too...

my little guy will pretty much eat anything from my hand. He looked so sad 2day. He crawled right into my hand against my chest cuddled up and kooed(sp?) himself to sleep. When he woke up i gave him some seed by hand and put him into his cage with his antibiotics.
