Does reguritating . . .

. . . only happen with male birds? With my budgies, only the males do it. THe one exception was when Lucky was feeding her chicks. Moki just did it on my knee and it just got me wondering, and I'm sure someone here can give a good answer. :)

In the wild males regurgitate to the female, females regurgitate to the babies,
so if a female does it to you she thinks you are her baby,
if a male does it to you he thinks you are his mate?

I'm kidding, but logically speaking right lol...

So basically it gives no more clue into Moki's true gender than before. LOL! Although I'm guessing he's a male because I'm not begging for food and he doesn't have any egg-laying hormones going on. And also, he humps a frayed rope toy at the bottom of his cage every so often. It will be interesting to see what happens as he becomes more bonded to Daisy. I don't plan to breed any chicks but let's see if he starts treating her as his girlfriend. Daisy has laid eggs in the past according to the former owner. (At least we know her true gender!)

My baby is definitely a female. She doesn't actually bring food up, but does the neck bobbing thing constantly to me. She loves me and I couldn't love her more!

My female TAG will regurgitate, however she does it when she starts her "mating dance" (drooping wings, making funny noises, etc). It's a lot worse in the springtime.

So I'll sit her down and ignore her lewd behavior (hehe) and once she stops, I"ll pick her back up.

I had a female budgie that would hump her rope perch ALL the time. She was definately female, rubbing the vent is a way to masterbate for most birds.
