Found an injured/sick bird

I came across it in the parking lot of my job this morning. It doesn't look like anything is broken, and I suspect seagulls might be the culprit, although it may just be an illness.

I put on some rubber gloves we have out in our warehouse and placed the little guy in a box with some water so he's at least comfortable and out of reach of any cats/seagulls.

It is barely standing upright, and it's head is starting to droop. It's keeping it's eyes closed and breathing heavily.

Any suggestions? Although, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have much left.

Also, even though I'm going to be neurotically washing my hands every five minutes (rubber gloves notwithstanding), how paranoid do I need to be about going near my CAG? Should I quarantine myself for a period of time, or is that going overboard? The only thing it touched was the rubber gloves.

I'm kicking myself now, but I couldn't just leave the little guy.

You should try finding a local wildlife rehab center, however they may not take the bird if it's a common species. Sometimes, there are people who will raise wildlife as well for release - which you might be able to find through Craigslist.

If you can't do that, but if the bird is still alive, then you should try finding out what species it is and raising it. If it's mainly an insectivore eater, you can try feeding moist cat food. If it's mainly a seed eater, you can buy handfeeding formula for parrots.

try putting a towel or something else that will keep the little guy warm... poor little thing.

Did it take any food from you?

No, I don't really have anything handy at the moment. I tried to give it some water off the tip of my gloved finger, but it wasn't interested/able to drink. I'll try to find a towell, thanks.

I'm very concerned about the possibility of getting my CAG sick, though.

change your cloths(&wash them) and shower before going near your cag. find a wildlife rehabber, and you should be fine
