There are quite a few sites in the net that discuss this in length. If you read from the "Laughing Parrot" it indicates that Crape Myrtle is considered Toxic and should never be offered to a bird. If you go to the mdvaden.com is shows Crape Myrtle as a "safe wood". Parrot Chronicles says it the Crape Myrtle plant is safe.

I am still doing loads of research as there is so much controversy on the Crape Myrtle.
Is it the leaves or the bark?

Ugh, really? I have some crape myrtle branches with the bark left on them on my play gym. I have so few trees in my yard, I thought the myrtle would be fine.

I have a bunch of crape myrtle and that is what I was going to use and then I read the Laughing Parrot. All other sites say they are safe.
