car perch

I want to get this for Tiki he loves riding in his car. He's very content in his carrier, and I'm hoping he will just stay on the perch and behave. Love singing along with him in the car. Anybody use anything like this?

I am thinking about making one but have no idea if Tiki will just sit there and be content or go crazy and fly into my face while I'm driving!

It would probably cost you $12 at the most to make that. Easy. And the other $20 you saved could be spent on chewies or stuff to entertain him on the ride.

I think my CAG, Cokie is the best candidate for this perch, he's not the curious type to wander. Now if only I can get crafty and do it myself, but trying to figure out how to knot a climbing net will probably tie me up for a while!

PVC is easy to work with, I'm sure you could make it easily.

I made my boyfriend make Tiki a HUGE playstand :)
That should be so easy to make!

I used to have something similar to that until it finally broke.
Loved that thing and so did my birds - only bad thing was nothing underneath to catch the poop so you couldn't set anything under it that you didn't want poop on.
My guys also would climb up onto the back of the car seat is I had to cover it for protection.

Maybe we could figure out a way to attach a removable piece of cloth (that hangs down)so you can detach and throw in the laundry/wash
It would act sort of like a diaper I suppose..

I had thought that would be the main problem

lol, it says this on the ad...

This innovative Parrot Car Perch features a PVC Design to fit over most Car Seat Head Rests and stay in place. More versatile than that, this bird perch can fit over an upholstered dining room chair or even the side of a bath tub.

Just spread a towel over seat bottoms to catch bird poop. Or better yet, go to the baby department at Target and purchase crib mattress protectors. Either way, toss the soiled seat protector in the washer.

That is what I usually did. but then you can't really put anything else in the seat.

I have a new one now that has a bottom on it and is made from metal. Does the job perfectly and I have the poop protection as well.
