Question Just a few questions about human foods??

I'm just wondering if its okay to give my Quaker some orange juice for the vitamin C. It's 50% orange juice which has half the sugar and calories as the origonal orange juice. Also I give a little bit of egg shell about once a week for calcium since birds can store calcium in there bones. Also how much of human foods is a recommended serving size for a Quaker sized bird. And lastly can i give him a teaspoon of dry oatmeal to him to obsorb any fat he consumes since quakers are prone to fatty liver disease. Umm I think thats all but if there is anything u'd like to add it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I give all my conures orange juice, but I mix it with their birdie bread and oatmeal is in their birdie bread as well as egg shells, chopped real fine.

With the orange juice, you have to wonder what is the other 50% made of? Freshly squeezed organic orange juice is best for them. Oatmeal is fine as far as I know. Keep human foods to a minimum and do not feed at all if they are high in salt, fat or sugar.

the rest is water it says 42% juice and the rest is water. But has 50% less sugar and calories.

Probably better off grabbing some bags of oranges when they're in season, squeezing and putting into icecube trays. At least that way you know it's pure OJ. There just seems to be so many bits and piecies in everything nowdays <sigh>.

Sounds ok if you want to on occasion, like when you're drinking some and he seems interested- but you're always better off with all natural.
