How does everybody do it?

I have been reading the boards and their older posts and I read that almost everybody lets their birds out to play on stands or Atoms or other toys and I am jealous!!!
My birds would go crazy and fly into the windows and our big patio glass doors and it would take me the rest of the day to catch them all and put them up in their cage. How do you make your birds stay in one place?
I want to do this!

Glue.

Actually, it's just a matter of patience and persistence. Keep putting your bird back on the stand and eventually you will win out.

...unless you own a Goffins 'Too. Then you're out of luck, they never stay put.

First they have to be tame.... that is the key. It sound like your birds are wild. When our are out they follow us around and won't leave us alone. That's because they are tame. Also some people have the birds wings clipped very carefully by professionals so that they can't fly too high or tooo fast. Ours are not clipped.

T!!!!!!! Honestly you're a brat today! LOL

I have a big Cockatoo, Love Birds, Lorykeet, Parakeets, Grey Congo African Parrot and a Budgy.
Tomorrow we are going to the flea market and they usually are selling a lot of parrots and I might spend my money on one! I'm excited.
So my list of birds may change.

This is JMO but I would work on taming and training the current birds before you get another. I can tell you honestly in my situation I think one bird is enough for me, I have 3 dogs who want my time, and the CAG as well, and I am home all the time and do not work. With the amount of birds you already have, I feel like the work you need to put in in order to be able to handle and work with the birds will keep you busy for quite some time. There is much more to bird ownership than a roomy cage and lots of food and toys, they crave interaction, my aunt has an amazon that will not allow anyone to touch it, but he is still left out of his cage (usually on top), and he is allowed to come and go as he pleases, he would be devastated if no one paid attention to him, because although he won't step up or let you scratch him, he loves to be talked to and praised, he loves to watch what the family does all day. While I'm sure your heart is in the right place, believe me when I tell you that if you have the time and attention to give, your too and CAG will more than happily accept all of your attention.

I am unable to touch the Cockatoo and the Grey Congo. Their beaks are much too large and dangerous for that. I spend alot of time sitting near their cage talking to them but all they do is get upset and have stress.
I really want a blue colored bird so that is what I am looking for at the flea market tomorrow.

If you work with them they will come around. Sit by the cage reading or talking to them so they get used to you. You can then start offering special treats on a long spoon, and slowly over time move your hand closer to the end of the spoon, and then work on taking treats from your hands. Your birds are just scared, they need to feel safe and loved before they will trust you.

That might be your problem! Find a bird from a good reputable breeder rather than a flea market!
