I am very sorry for your loss. Have you had problems with snakes before?

Matt

Snakes can get quite a few places, that's just what they do.

Kiwi, is the enclosure you are building "snake proofed" at all? That fellow might hang around for a bit.

That is sad and rotten luck.

We had a massive python come in one night when we left the door open and it had a nap in out pantry. We didn't want to hurt it so we sprinkled flour around to see that it actually did go back outside.

Merlie, A scaley is a type of lorikeet. Smaller and a little more sane than a rainbow lorikeet. Very pretty.

There's a story about that happening at the pet shop I used to work at. It happened before my time, so I did not see it personally. They had a large friendly Macaw for a long time, several years I believe, and one morning they came in and found no bird in the cage, but a huge python, I believe a retic or a burmese curled up in the bottom of the cage with a large lump. Apparently it had escaped as a baby, and lived off of rats and mice in the attic. I believe they found large shed skins in the attic at some point later in time. Everyone was devastated. I hear it is not uncommon for snakes to come out of hiding to try to get to our domestic pet birds. I'm sorry for your loss.
