I think that lovies and p-lets are very similar in terms of personality and behavior.
They both think that they are 10 feet tall and will try to take on a parrot/person/animal many times their size. They are feisty, spunky, amusing and outgoing. P-lets are just a bit smaller than lovebirds and weigh less, too. They are also more likely to learn words. Lovies are easier to find but p-lets aren't exactly uncommon... You'll have an easier time finding Pacific (aka Celestial) parrotlets than some of the other species, but from time to time you can find breeders working with green-rumps and spectacled p-lets. Peach-faced lovebirds are the most common and come in an almost staggering array of mutations. Masked and Fischer's lovebirds are also readily available, and also come in a variety of mutations. Both species of parrot make wonderful companions :)

I have had lovebirds and I currently have a parrotlet, Oliver. Main difference is size. Oliver is TINY. & super adorable!! The biggest difference Id say is the noise level. Oliver never makes any noise except when he wakes up in the morning. My lovebirds used to chatter and scream and talk all day long. So having Oliver around has definitely been quiet (and weird at times!). Lovebirds and parrotlets have the same attitudes. They both think they are big birds!! LOL Oliver is very hard headed, he thinks he is an amazon. I love lovebirds and I love parrotlets, besides size and noise, Id say they were pretty similar!!
