Do you take your birds shopping?

If so what stores do they go to with you? I saw a sun conure in home depot riding on a guys shoulder a long time ago, I've carried my toy poodle in lowes, and seen two huskies walking around there.

I would love to bring Tiki with me when I go out,
where do you bring your birds to?
Is it safe to do?

I only bring my Amazon Tiki shopping with me. He seems to crave the excitement. I've brought my grey, Alex and Pi on walks but not to stores it would be too much for them. I wouldn't bring Tiki anywhere loud like home depot or Lowes, also might be worried about fumes there. I bring him grocery shopping, health food store, to restaurants, clothes shopping.

I'm suprised how many restaurants didn't have an issue with him in his backpack carrier. I just slipped food in his dish to occupy him. I don't ever take him out of his carrier when I'm shopping because I don't know what might startle him and don't want him to fly into anything because he was startled.

Yes.

Pet stores mainly. I've been to Rona (a building supply store) with my girl. Home Depot explicity denies animals in Canada. I do not go there unless I absolutely have to - they will not even allow my retrievers in the door.

I've taken Lexi to my daughter's school Renn Faire. Oh boy. Talk about instant celebrity! No one can resist a Caique!

I'm actually curious if anyone on here is concerned their bird might contract something from being in a pet store that has other birds.

That's the entire reason none of my birds, nor myself go into pet stores that house birds. One stupid error on my part and I could devestate my entire aviary.

that concerns me as well, I don't go in the bird room with Tiki if I go to Petco, it's closed off. But when I bring my birds to get their nails trimmed whether at the vets or to a bird store, they are exposed to other birds. The vets worries me most because sick birds have been there.

Really? What kind of grocery stores let you in? Do you put his carrier in the a cart?
I don't know if I could get away with that around here. It would be great if I could get him use to going out and about while he's young so he will enjoy it.

As long as you aren't touching other birds and the things other birds have touched your bird should be fine right?
What is an airborn illness birds get from each other?

Wow, sounds fancy. All the Petsmarts and Petcos around here just have a little 'bird section' right next to the reptiles.
