In general I agree with this - I think spiders, for the most part, are good. They eat annoying insects.

The Brown Recluse (based on what I read about it - since we don't have any in our area) is an exception. I live with Wolf, Black Widow, and Hobo spiders in our area. None of them seem to have anywhere near the *evil* reputation of the Brown Recluse. This opinion is just from web-reading and we know how much trust we should put in that... But it seems that most every-one agrees and I find little dissenting opinion.

So... If I was in that situation I would be spraying and vacating my home for an overnighter (with my animals) at a friends...

Just my opinion...

It is not just DDT that has that ubiquitous quality. And just because it comes from a plant does not mean it is not a chemical. Water is a chemical, and so are diamonds and sugar. More over, just because it comes from a plant does not mean it is safe. The process of extracting and processing those chemical can make what might have been safe - in a plant, into something that is not safe at all, because in the plant there may have been other chemicals or chemical reactions that made it less potent, or destructive, ect.
For example, if you take a certain chemical out of a plant, and then man make that very same chemical, it is exactally the same chemical whether it was made by a plant or a person. This is because it still has the exact same composition, the same chain of molecules.

I think it is foolish that people see nature as the soft option. Just because it comes from a plant, or a fish, or whatever does not make it any safer then something we concoct ourselves.

*Please note, I am not suggesting to not use natural and biological options, in general. I am merely suggesting we give those natural and biological options the respect they deserve. A Pesticide is a Pesticide no matter where it's chemicals come from.

I guess I am going on a cleaning mission this weekend! I don't let any bug no matter what it is roam anywhere in my house! I am terrified of them! What scares me is the spider was just crawling in the middle of the hallway and my puppy almost ate it! It makes my skin crawl just thinking about them!! My boyfriend thought it was cool, he got a small knife and plate and like dissected it! I didn't think it was funny, but I will tear the house apart this weekend and get those bugs!!

haha it's awful, but you try living in a house where there's a massive tree full of huntsmans just outside your window and finding them EVERYWHERE in your house.. i had to kill at least one every few days...
