I think this is just horrible. The courts need to be more strict on animal cruelty cases. Maybe then people like this guy will think twice befroe harming an innocent bird or any other animal. If he is capable of doing this to an animal that cannot fight back against him what is he capable of doing to someone else who can? He needs a stricter punishment than probation. He also needs to be prohibited from ever owig pets again.

As I said in my earlier post, I totally agree with all the others. If this man is let off with a slap on the wrist he will not change. I find it hard to believe that he will. It is also fact that as a previous poster stated that most violent criminals begin out harming animals. If this man was calluos enough to kill an innocent caged family pet what is he capable of doing next. The court should hold him responsable for his actions and not let him get off so easy on this offense. It begins with this offense and if he gets off with a slap on the wrist he will feel it is okay to harm an animal and then it really begins. What will he do when another human being interrupts his tv watching? If he is held responsable he will think twice before turning to violence against another animal or human. Our court system needs to take a stand and make tougher laws for animal abusers. This has to stop.

The package is sent. We had 96 in all. We had recues, vets, authors, santuaries, forum administrators, behaviorists, scientists, owners and even an attorney write. We had letters from Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil and Australia. We were crossposted on various forums, Myspace,Facebook, and craigslist.
The Prosecuting attorney is aware that they are on their way, and I was contacted by the media to do an interview on why I felt this was such an important topic to get ahold of.

Thank you for trying to be part of the process that lets the world know, bird caregivers wont stand for this.
