Well, after a year of longing and wishing and waiting I finally bit the bullet and put down a deposit on two birds I have wanted for a very, very long time. Initially I was looking at caiques after meeting my first ones in person in a bird store in Albany, New York last August. I loved them and had been "window shopping" until I had some spare funds laying around. Well, I finally was contacted by a breeder that I had emailed several months ago to be put on her list that she had baby caiques, so I decided to put a deposit on a BH baby. While browsing her site, I came across the last Hahns baby she had left and my heart melted.
I had fought long and hard about rehoming versus buying and I decided that since the other nine birds of my flock are all rehomes that for once I decided I wanted to see what it was like to get babies when they are first weaned and raise them up myself.
So, meet Checkers, my Black headed caique (not sexed as of yet) and Avery, my male Hahns macaw. It will be November before they are home, plenty of time to get everything together and to drool over their baby pictures, lol!
