we found a petland in fairfield? not a happy place if i do say so myself. all of the rodents had open topped cages and clipped parakeets were right next door also in topless glass tanks the worst part was all the animals looked VERY ill including the puppies and ferrets, but still, again, something worse, a LARGE blue mccaw (cant remember exact name) was caged with a TINY (i want to say cocateil) bird. this doesn't seem like the right mix now does it? i feel so bad for those poor babies! not to mention the fact that the sick rodents kittens and dying ferrets were surrounding them!!!!! they could die from diseases and i doubt the workers would care. they apparantly dont now! they act like its some big suprise it makes me sick! if only it was illegal and they could be shut down!!! someone needs to knock some sense into them! those poor birds cant live like that! someone needs to get them out of there!!! too bad i cant take them, they are very cute!

I hope you dont mean a Hyacinth macaw!! Those birds are VERY large and much too big to be housed with a cockatiel!!! I have really never heard good things about Petland. Im glad we dont have one in or around the area where I live. I think that if you really want to do something you can always call a corporate office and insist they come and inspect the conditions these animals are in. The last thing these people want is media attention from bad conditions in their stores. I know that complaining to corporate will at least get their attention on that store and will prompt them to do something (I have done this myself and it actually made a difference - yes, I was surprised!).

I know how frustrating these things are. I dont go into pet stores anymore with animals, it just makes me sad. Keep us posted if you decide to talk to someone about the store, Id love to hear if anything happens!

Perhaps you could contact the proper authorities about it? That chain has an awful reputation, it's only a matter of time before they get rid of all of them.

Funny they told you that, cause the breeder i bought Molly my baby sun, led me to believe they are not noisy at all!

NO.. sorry. It was a blue and gold Macaw baby (he/she was very sweet) in with a Congo African Grey. I was really ticked that they were selling puppies and LARGE parrots... sorry, it leaked into my daughter! I had thought all the Petlands had been closed... my wife thought they had just been banned from selling puppies. Guess not... they had pups that were so young they shouldn't have legally been away from mom. It was really sad. Two sat together shaking like crazy huddled in a corner. They were terrified. I was SO disgusted!

thats horrible about the puppies, i hate places like that! The main pet store around here is not bad at all for taking care of their animals, they all look healthy and bright, i just feel so bad when i see the puppies in those tiny glass boxes

If you dont call, I will!!!! Petland needs to be wiped out, they just dont do good business and they have no idea how to treat animals.
