They're fine (birds have different taste buds to us so chillis don't hurt them and they have antioxidants- yummy!) there are some old threads on this topic... just do a search to get the information.

Lol I just cant believe how much he loved it...
We hold the chilli out and he backs away from it like its a monster, so i tear it open so he can see the seeds but still backs away, so i pick one seed out and he stares at it for a minute before cautiously taking the seed, then he chews it.. then accepts another seed... then all of a sudden he is TEARING into the rest of the chilli lmao it was so cute

Well, I've read some sources that say to remove the seeds and the pith as much as possible o_O I remove the seeds, slice out the pith as much as I can, then slice the chilies into thin selections for eating

SO RANDOM

Actually, taste buds have nothing to do with spiciness. Instead, it comes from neuro receptors in your mouth/tongue. Certain types of receptors form bonds with the spicy stuff...usually capsaicin, which causes the receptors to go off and let your brain know that YOU ARE ON FIRE.

Or something like that.

I assume parrots don't have this, which is good, because this stuff can elevate your body tempature to dangerous levels if this happens to much.

....thank you, Mythbusters.

Aren't taste buds neuro receptors themselves? As in just another information pathway to your brain? Perhaps I should have said "birds have different taste buds to us AND chillis don't hurt them."

I feed chilli cut up in little rings about once a week to my lot. It certainly all goes, seed and all. rumour has it that it's also meant to be a natural wormer if used regularly. Not sure on the facts but I'm sure someone has some info.
