Question How to clean a crusty bird?

I'm all moved into my new place! It was a rough first night though...my room is huge but it faces a very busy road, so throughout the night I was woken up by a drunk guy shouting in the street and jackhammering at 8 am right outside our building. Uuuugh....

This morning when I took Hess out, I found that she was encrusted with pellet goo. I freaked out for a second because it looked like blood, but its definitely those red zupreem pellets. It looks like she dunked them in her water and got the crustiness on her facial feathers. This is odd though, since she has a waterbottle not a dish. What is the best way to clean these off? She seems groggy this morning too...I guess she was kept up by the jackhammering and the busy night as well. :p

If she's groggy and not keeping herself clean, it might be a symptom of illness and she may need to be seen by a vet. If she's just dirty, gently spraying her with a water bottle or taking her in the shower with you will help her get nice and clean.

I take my birds into the shower and then they each get gently patted down with a towel afterwards. It keeps them squeaky clean.

Veeeeet!

A grown parrot should never be groggy! Even when woken up, they should be relatively alert! That's a fact with the majority of prey animals.

Good luck. Keep us updated!
