Example of Wkly Farmers Market bounty!

All this for about $10's. Of course the birds don't get the onions we do. This is for them as well as for us. What doesn't get eaten this wk, will get frozen or dried. The dried will go into my dry mix and the frozen will go into the chop mix. ( Dry mix is the Last pic posted here.)

Each week it is different depending on the season for the fruit and veggies.

Notice the bag of carrots, he also sales to the local stores. I can buy it from him on Thurs. at $.50 a bag, or get the exact same carrots at the store for upwards $3 or $4 dollars a bag, sold as Locally grown organic produce...go figure.

Awesome! so colorful <3

Curiously, how do you verify that it is definitely organic grown? Do you know the farm personally, or wha?

Yes we do. I live in a small town, where everyone know everyone. Most of the farmers know that I have birds. So say if they have a box of something that didn't sale this wk and it will not make it until next wk, knowing I'm gonna dry it or freeze it they just give it to me. Example: 79 red bell peppers two wks ago, for free, all in great shape!

Most of the farmers we have also been to their homes, also. We offer to help them in anyway we can, and in exchange they give us ALOT!

In Houston? A city of that size, HAS to have one. Look around, I'm sure you will find one. Ask people if they know of one, I'm sure someone knows.

that's awesome! I'm totally jealous. We have farmers' markets around here, but i just don't know if I can trust the products.

I heard of some product called veggie wash or something to wash off possible pesticides? Anyone use that?
