Hey Jess89!

I remember you saying that you let Jasper get fresh branches/leaves in his cage. What do you use to 'disinfect' them, also preventing mites, without the leaves falling off? I am getting a new cage for Cougar and wanted some fresh branches for her cage.

If anyone else wants to chime in about what they do for fresh branches I would love to hear it. I will probably keep some natural branches in her cage, so they don't have to have leaves on them.

I'm obviously not Jess, but i use Aristopet Bird mite and Lice spray. I've also put things in the oven from time to time, but only when they fit :)

I spray the branches down with dawn and water with a spray bottle and then rinse them off and let them dry in the sun.

Hmm, haven't had much sun lately. . . Unfortunately.

I just read on some other thread a guy said to bake them at 250 for an hour. Worth a try I guess.

It's okay to use bleach and water if you rinse well and let dry in the sun, yes I know LOL. supposed to come out tomorrow.

LOL! Dawn is dish soap.

Dmiller, the branches i want to use are pretty huge, dunno if I can fit into my oven. There is an Ash tree that had these huge branches come down today. I could see those in the new cage (MBS strikes again). Hopefully they will still be there by tomorrow.
