Best places to buy birds?

Hey, as I posted before I'm thinking of getting 1 or 2 canaries for my moms birthday but I want to research well. I wanted to know where the best place to get them was? Someplace where they'll be healthy and possible not AS expensive. At petco they were like 150 and looked pretty bad.

Check places that are rescues or hoobly.com, where birds need a new home.

Yes, you don't necessarily need to get babies.

Don't know too many people who specifically want Canary babies...

Many people want babies in any animal, regardless of whether it is hand tame or not.. They want 'value' for money. It turns people off when they find out the animal is older. i even get people at work asking me how old the FISH are.

Yes, just make sure its an ethical breeder if you go that route. Try to do your homework. Ask around your area. contact your local bird club... research breeders and find one that keeps good records.....

Do you mean a pair of canaries was $150? I have never looked into price of canaries, but I worked at a pet store many years ago, and they cost about $15-$20, are they really that expensive now?

they are usually 75 to 100 in pet stores. I have a couple from spring, one is a male and good singer the other has the glocester carona head pretty markings but female and doesn't sing. I would only part with them if someone got a minimum of hq fliqht for them as they are used to double flights now. They are not for sale, only for spoiling, I'm in CT. Feel free to PM me, hope I didn't break any rules.
