Red face I Saw A Quaker At The Market Today!

You would not believe my surprise. I was petting a kitty that was on some guy's shoulder. The kitty was in a harness and I made some comment about how it is more well behaved than my birds would be on my shoulder in public. Just then, an older man walks by with a quaker on his hand! I was sooo excited. I rarely see people with birds in my (small) town. I couldn't NOT go over and ask questions.. it was just first instinct to go chat him up. Afterwards I said, "Okay I'll stop harassing you now" I know there is another guy with a M2 that does walk around town sometimes though.

I bombarded the guy with questions, about where the bird was originally from and what he eats, etc etc. His (the quaker's) name is Bill, and he is ten years old. Apparently he was abandoned when someone moved out of their place and ended up at the spca - and then this guy adopted him. They seemed so bonded to each other and he even went upside down in his hand- the quaker had no harness on, but he was fearless about the dogs walking around and all the people that were at the market. I felt jealous because none of my birds get to be outside yet.. I would recommend a harness though, as I could never trust them outside without it.
Bill looked happy and healthy, and made me miss my quaker even more. I told him mine used to love happy huts, and he should try one with his. I guess my MBS won't be satisfied until I can adopt a quaker now.

Lol, I saw a guy riding a bike with a dog hanging onto his back... no straps or anything - scary!

And I'm sure that Bill was so cute. I just love quakers, they have such great personalities. I think I will always have to have one around...

I don't know that I would feel comfortable walking around with my bird outside (when i get one) even in a harness. There are hawks around here and I would just be too fearful one would swoop down and take my baby.

Now, see...

When I saw the title, my first instinct was to ask "How much per pound?"
