We have used one by the name of Pelonis in both of our bird rooms. they are on wheels, but we have never had to use them on high, they are on a low setting at night, and off during the day, as the florida sun warms things up sufficiently, we keep the bird rooms between 75 and 80 year round. They are electric, they generate heat, they do not blow heat, if that helps, but we have never had an issue, we keep them in the center of the room, not up next to the cages. We did plug them in and let them burn off a little in a different room, prior to putting them in the bird rooms, when we bought them.

I have one made by Holmes. We called this morning because we needed to heat up the new bird's room. They say they do not use PTFE in any of their heaters.

Electric Oil Filled Heaters
I have been using the electric type oil filled heaters ( looks kind-of like the old steam type heaters used in homes up north ) for years & they work great. I've found them to be much easier to set & keep a consistant temperature in a room. ( We live in an older home that doesn't have any sort of heat in any room other that the living room & bathroom. So we have had several of these heaters over the years. They use to only cost around $35.00 ( US ) but now there are a lot of new brands with other bells & whistles added, which run the price up.
One suggestion is if you have a larger room to heat use a small fan of some sort behind the heater ( blowing thru the oil filled ribs ) to help circulate the heat around the room. And it's also good to add some form of moisture when using heat for birds. A small cool mist type of humidifier ( like one for a babys room ) which will help keep the birds more comfortable. Just remember to clean the unit with white vinegar at least once a week to keep the unit sanatized. Zon Mom

I was going to raise a concern, but Zon Mom caught it.
The moisture part....heaters can really dry out a room, and most of these birds are suited to be in more humid atmospheres, yep. Humidifier sounds good. Personally, I get really dried out and uncomfortable when heaters are on....maybe it's the Brazillian blood. o.0 |

Also, I believe Avitech sells some kind of radiant panel heaters that can be used near a bird's cage or perching spot. Here is a link: Infrared Heating for Birds

Holms makes a variety of different kinds of heaters. Which ones are the safest for birds?
ceramic heaters, radiant heaters, fluid-filled
