Pics from a bird auction

We saw a bird auction pretty close to our house so we thought we would go check it out. It was pretty cool to see all the gorgeous birds, but there were a few sad ones too.

The highlight of the day!

A single male, there were 3 Hyacinths total

It was weird to see a bird auction. Kind of sad to see animals auctioned off, IMO. There were about 10 moluccans and only 1 was in perfect feather, the others were all just awful looking. All the cockatoos, actually were really sad looking. There were so many other awesome small birds and macaws but the sunlight was not in the right direction and you could not see anything in the pictures.

It was SO hot out too that day (not like we have cold days, but still, it was hot), and it was at noon, the worst possible time! They had a bunch of hybrid large cats too like bengals and such. I wished I had more room for storage or I would have boughten a bunch of cages, they had super cheap huge cages. I wish I could have saved them all and spoiled them, it was so hard to see them all bored and sad.

Anyway, here is one last HAPPY, cute one of my Paco- "Leggo my Eggo!"

those are some sad looking birds. They could use a few toys in there.

That picture is adorable. So what exactly is a bird auction? Are they birds that used to have homes? Or are they birds that were surrendered or rescued? Or are they babies? That makes me so sad = ( I hope that they at least go to good homes. Are the prices way cheaper? Sorry all the questions, Ive never been to one (& probably couldn't go to any since Im so darn emotional about those things). I hope that there weren't any shady people there. I guess you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but still, I think I can tell a bad person when I see it. Maybe not, I dunno - I just dont like the thought of a bird auction = (

They probably don't have toys there, because if it's a true auction, those cages are temporary and they're trying to focus strictly on the birds. Much like you see 'tiels showcased in shows, nothing to distract. Which, to me is silly, because birds play with toys thus.. are goofy with toys. I imagine most of these were single breeders or pairs. I'm just guessin' though.

Just out of curiosity how much was the winning bid on the hy?
I'd like to go to one for cages but I'm afraid I would fill the cages there.

just curious, is that about the size cage cockatoo and macaw breeders typically live out their lives?

That's sad to see them in those cages like that!! I would love to take them all home with me, I would do it if I won the lottery! That's a funny pic of Paco and his eggo, he is very pretty:)
