Macaw behaviour

My B&G will stick out her tongue and hiss at me. And bob her head toward me and back when she does this. Is this some type of mating behaviour? I taught her to lean forward and give me a 'kiss' and she makes a smootching sound. She will do this in between the tongue out and hiss sound.

I am thinking she thinks I am her mate.

I know to ignore and walk away from the regurgitating but, what is this tongue and hissing thing?

Sarge, our Military, does this quite often. His sounds almost like a hiss with a lisp. It's quite cute, but I've noticed that when I hissed back at him, his face blushed bright red and he'd go crazy regurging...so you may be on to something with the mating behavior. I just pretend like I don't hear him now and he stops

Hard to know how old Lola is. She was originally captive of some cretin that thought he would breed her and a male for $. She was kept in a filthy cage in the back of a basement where there was so much excrement on the bottom of the cage she could only cling to the side.

A couple of college kids found her. The male had died. They couldn't leave her there like that so they paid the cretin to buy her.

They had Lola for awhile, nursed her back to health and treated her well. But, as school and things happened they needed to find her a good home. They gave her to me. So, she is probably somewhere between 8 and 10.

But she does this 'stick her tongue out and hiss thing at me. And then she does the 'smootching' with me. I do think it is some kind of mating behaviiour.

BTW, I think she picked up a bad thing. I could swear I heard her say 'What the F*** is that' this morning. I usually don't cuss but...I may have said that!

Ha ha. Razz dropped the F-bomb once and Caillou said Godd...it. I realized whyn they did I either have to stop taking them in the car or become a more patient driver (yah, like THAT'S going to happen)
