Which one do you suppose would make a better pet for say... a 13 year old girl who has to go to school for about 7 hours a day, and I do Dance on Thursdays which... is about 3 hours. Mostly though, I have my hands very free for a teenager. I want a bird that will make me most content, like minimal "mbs symptoms." I'm between a gcc, a senegal, a pionus, and *possibly* blue crowned conure.
I realize I need to meet some birds before I make my decision, but.... I live about 2 1/2 hours away from the nearest (and the best) bird store, so its a bit out of my parent's way. My dads willing to take me, but it probably has to be a double trip (combined with something else that needs to be done in the big city).

I would look in the back of a Birdtalk mag. They have breeders listed by state. You might be surprised at how close one lives.
GCC are great little birds and great for teens. They are very cuddly and some talking ability. They do tend to be nippy at times, especially during adolescence. I love all the pois-senegals, meyers, brown heads, jardines, red bellies and capes. They tend to settle nicely and again a respectful teen would work well with one. Expect nips now and again. Being from the african family many tend to talk. Pi's are great too. Great medium size birds and mine were good talkers. Good for a secure teen. Blue crowns, very loud! I would not own one but that is just one persons opinion. Many here like them. They are very playful and cuddly, can talk, but loud. Did I say loud. I think you should get the bird you are attracted to for all reasons. It will develop into what it is by how you react with it and deal with behaviors that will continually change through outs it's life. Some days it will like you and somedays not. The important think is to let your bird learn to trust you and you will trust it. I want to add that the bird needs lots of toys and foraging toys to keep it busy when you are not around.
