Help

I accidental left fresh food in Tiki's cage all night and he ate some this morning before I got it out (evidence is on his beak)
It smelled bad!

What should I do????
I did not mean to forget about it!

He'll probably be okay. :)

If you can get him to take a little apple cider vinegar for the next couple of days, that can't hurt, and it might help make his digestive tract an unhappy place for bacteria.

Watch him closely, weigh him every morning. If he looks listless, starts losing weight, etc. take him to the vet ASAP for some medicines.

While we don't want to just give them bad food intentionally, wild birds don't have refrigerators. ;D

Okay I put the ACV in his water. I never have seen him drink though.
I'm still worried, He had one weird looking poop this morning before I let him out.
But all his poop looks fine now. He's acting fine.

Hopefully he's okay :(

What was in the fresh food?

Alot of times you're just looking at maybe an upset tummy or it just plain tasting..different. But not a very good different.

I know your guy's a good eater, but there is a LIMIT to being open to try new things, honestly Jas.

It sounds like he's doing okay though. Don't freak out too bad.
I never saw Karis or Eti drink for the longest time either...but I knew they did. o.0
Sometimes I think birds just enjoy freaking us out.

I have made that mistake once or twice before when I was sick. Don't get upset. I am sure your bird is fine. Remember you only needed a tiny bit of ACV in the water bowl. Change twice daily.

I do that every weekend in the summer. I go away overnight, and I leave plenty of food in Jezebel's cage, including the warmed up frozen vegetables. So, obviously, they remain there overnight and I'm sure she eats it the next day. She's fine.

He should be okay. It's a mistake I think most of us have made once or twice. I have to be really careful with Echo because he has no problem digging into old food. I think the suggestions of acv are good ones.

Well he's still doing fine, I did the ACV in the water who knows if he drank it. He ate fresh food today, his poops look normal.

It just smelled aweful to me!
It was kale, corn, rice, and beans.

It's fine. Your bird will be ok. Vegetation is a lot different than 'old' proteins.
