Oatmeal

Can you give them the flakes without cooking? I was thinking about sprinkling it onto food because it makes a huge mess cooked and he doesn't really like it!

Yes, raw oats are fine. Just don't use that instant stuff that comes in the little packages with the spices and sugar and stuff mixed in. Plain, raw oats (Quaker is ok; Bob's Red Mill is better) are a great addition...and they help soak up some of the left over moisture from the wet foods.

Is the regular quick cook kind ok? I always use the old fashioned kind just to be safe though.

I give the regular kind to my birds and rats, cooked and uncooked. Oh I love it too! Great stuff ;)

I use large flaked oats, plain, I cook it for them and give it to them raw, they love it both ways. I actually have to get some more. But Boomer needed to beef up big time and my vets said to make him oatmeal a couple times a week, I did and he has gained a significant amount of weight.
