Freezing vegetables?

How many of you freeze fruit/vegetables?

I bought a bunch and wanted to cut and mix them into packets to make it easier to feed throughout the week..
can you freeze them like that?

Absolutely! Myself and I'm sure many, many others do it all the time. It makes feeding so much faster and easier.

Yup yup.....in fact, they did studies in recent years that said that freezing actually served to preserve the nutrients, so there was no significant loss in healthiness.

I do it all the time. You can make a vegie mash and freeze it in portions. I have all different size containers but after thawed i generally use it within 6-7 days.

How long does the stuff keep?
I made SO much of it, it will last me at least a month!

I put bananas in it but I was unsure of how they would look once I defrost it has anyone ever included banana slices?

I used
kale,
broccoli,
corn,
green beans
peas
banana
grape
3 different colored bell peppers
carrots
an orange

I can't remember what else.

I have used bananas and melon once and will never again. Goes soggy and gross. Use that stuff fresh or freeze it separately to the mash.

Oh, and chuck some sweet potato in too. Lexi loves hers!

The nanars look gross but they do get eaten. Your list looks good. Might want to add some more greens like dandelion or spinach. I don't know how much kale you used.

I have spinach in there too oops! I forget everything.
I saw dandelion greens were so expensive.

What about "collard greens"? I don't even know what those are!

My "soft food" mixture includes beans (legumes) which I cook up in a crockpot - then put into small freeze containers. I fill half with the cooked-and-cooled beans, and half with frozen veg, then pop the containers into the freezer. Then I thaw (in the fridge) as needed, giving each morning serve a quick 10 seconds in the microwave to take the chill off. One container's worth lasts about 3 days. (be careful of legumes, as they grow bacteria really fast, just as pasta and rice will do).

I cook up a new batch about every 3 weeks.
