Nice Birds!

When I'm older I'd like to have either a CAG or Amazon. I've also started looking at cockatoos. Of course, I won't get one for at least five years probably, I'd just like to know what one are the best talker and which ones bond better.

Well, I would research and learn as much as you can during those 5 years. Parrots are complex and intelligent animals. Most species for strong pair bonds, hence the "pet potential". The intelligence is a double edged sword, making them both enjoyable at times and difficult to live with at times. I think most parrot people would agree that they are definitely demanding and the decision to get one should not be taken lightly. Dogs make for easier companions (for the most part) and if talking ability (as highly entertaining as it is) is the biggest priority, I suggest not getting a parrot. Not because they cannot talk, obviously they often do, but because their needs are high and having something that talks does not make up for that. If their needs are not met, they can turn into screaming, biting, feather plucking messes. That being said, both African greys and lots of species of Amazon are renowned for their talking ability, speaking in context. Not all do, my timneh African grey prefers sound effects, my macaw is a better talker. I believe a budgie is the current record holder for largest vocabulary. It's definitely a relationship of give and take with a parrot.

So, like I suggested, do lots of research. Read posts her, join a local parrot club (if there is one in your area), volunteer at a parrot rescue facility, read, read, read.
