Pixel, the cluts.

When I got home from work yesterday Pixel was standing all funny so I took a look and there was obviously something going on with his foot. His back toes were facing forward so they were all 4 toes in a bundle, no swelling or blood or anything. He could get around ok and was eating and preening. I called the emergency vet to check with her and she said to keep him warm and make sure he was eating and drinking and to take him in in the morning if nothing changed.
This morning I checked his foot again and he was using all 4 toes now but limping a lot and favouring the other foot, so I took him in before work. The birdie vet was in surgery but the other vet took him in and said she would have her take a look and then call me.
The verdict: not broken, but obviously in pain. Warmth and pain meds for 3 days.

She said he was so afraid of the other animals there they kept him in their office and she said everybody just loved him, no need for me to hurry over to pick him up

I have no idea what happened to his foot but of course this puts a delay on his cage convertion for a couple of days.

On the bright side he isn't humping!! He tried before but it obviously hurt his foot so he stopped

Lol, I actually hope he did. That should teach him not to hump so much!
Oh, and yes he is an adorable guy :o) The vet who saw him this morning was telling me how she wanted to wait for the birdie vet and she looked at him while she was talking to me, then she paused and said "He's so cute!" and then looked at me again and finished what she was saying to me. I found it very funny

I'm hoping this unfortunate accident will slow him down a little.

I just feel bad that he'll have to stay at home by him self all weekend. My bf is out of town and I have to do inventory all weekend, which means I will have to give him his meds before 8 o'clock tomorrow and I won't be home until around dinner time. And then I have this birthday party for a close friend I can't get out of. Just hoping that the inventory will go well so I'll be home early on Sunday.
He is on strict bed rest though so I wouldn't be able to have him out.

Hehe, thanks Kelly. The vet actually did mention for him to stay at home, I don't know why she would think I would be going places with him. Maybe it's for the best that I won't be home much tomorrow, he'll be able to get his rest without me bothering him. He tends to be very occupied with what I'm doing. And since he's staying by the radiator in the bedroom I'm thinking he would be sure he's missing out on all the "fun" in the living room

Sounds to me like Pixel makes his own fun. LOL No really, with you being gone all day, will probably be a good thing so he can get some rest and quiet. If you were home, if you are anything like me, I would be peeking in on him every chance I could to make sure all was well.

Oh yes. That's what I've been doing all night. I even took my laptop to my bedroom and I have been sitting in there with him all night but I think it makes him feel good. He even took a beak grinding/singing in his sleep nap earlier. I loved it!
