Parrot Palooza!

I went to Parrot Palooza in NJ yesterday. Horrible weather but boy did we have a great time! Free foo and Tons of people! I met people from NJ, MD, PA, VA, NY, Ohio, CT, Canada, New Zealand, and a couple from Italy! Unbelievable! The way almost everyone started conversations with eachother was "What type of birds do you have?" then, "Where are you from?" There were lectured by Sally Blanchard, Lara Josephs and Dr. Ilene Pepperberg. All were very informative and Sally was very funny.
All the birds were simply beautiful and very well taken care of. Cages as clean as a whistle and packed with all kinds of toys. All the parrots were really busy playing. My favorite was a young hyacinth who actually sat on a girls leg for 2 hours of lectures and never made a sound. She preened and played with a kleenex, took a nap and cuddled. Simply sweet and gorgeous. I was very well behaved and watched my spending. I can't wait to go next year.

Sounds like it was super fun! Im so jealous, maybe I should plan on making a trip out East next year to go, it sounds like itd be very worth it!!! Did you take any pictures?

I love Bird Paradise and certainly appreciate their ongoing efforts to promote healthy and fulfilling lives for the birds in our care. Community involvement, research support, The Gabriel Foundation, knowledgeable, friendly staff at every turn....

Absolutely the BEST bird store in New Jersey. A prize of the state!

I also had a good time. A bit crowded for my anxiety issues but worth the 6 hour drive. I took some pictures and instead of uploading them all here...it will just be easier I guess to post the link to my myspace photo album. Not sure why it comes up as google but the link does work so enjoy!!

The Toucan pic is my fave. I really need to go next year, I am afraid at how much money I would spend in there. Its bird toy heaven!

I saw a toucan saturday but it was a MINI toucan - this little guy was small. & the asking price was $2000!! Yikes!! But he was SO adorable = )

They had a little toucanette there and I was standing in front of his cage talking to him. He was facing the back of his cage standing on his water dish. All at once he tipped backwards into the water dish and started kicking his feet luck a duck and flapping his wings. I got soaked and my glasses were covered in water. Wish my camera hadn't of died!

Was that the one between the Umbrella Cockatoo and the Sulfur Crested?? If so that little &*^$ got me all wet too!!
