Cage recommendations

Although Jezebel doesn't spend a great deal of time in her cage, I have a feeling she needs a bigger one. She's a CAG.

I live in a one bedroom apt. in NYC and don't have a lot of room. So, I'd probably get a cage that is just the right size, and no larger.

Also, if I buy a cage from the internet, I suppose I have to assemble it, right?

I'm probably better off in a local store, but the biggest store here is Petco. I don't love any of their cages.

What does her cage look like now (just so we are recommending a larger one). How much time does she spend in her cage? Do you have a picture of it?

a 32x23x60(ish) cage is fine for a CAG, especially one that doesn't spend much time there. I like dome tops with a sperate playgym for my guys as they tend to get a bit territoral with the play-top cages.

WHen I bought my HQ I had to assemble it myself, but it wasn't hard. Bf helped me but I could have done it alone (maybe, lol). I agree that Id like to see a photo before you got out and get a new cage. Neko has a cage that a lot of people would probably say is too small for him, but he is NEVER in it (except to sleep or if one of us isn't home for a few hours) therefore I dont feel the need to upgrade it just yet. IMO he has plenty of room and I know he's a happy birdie so thats just the way it is right now.

I know most say the bigger the better but sometimes that isn't always the case. My parrotlet preferred a smaller cage to a bigger one so ya never know!!

I got a cage on craigslist and had to take it apart and reassemble it .It was easier than I thought it would be.Id check for the size of the door next time.my cage has a pretty small door for its size and its hard to clean and get access to one side of it.

I've found most cages are very easy to assemble so long as you take the time to read the instructions and more importantly, just sit back and look at the cage if you get stuck as most of the time it's fairly obvious what goes where!

My mom and I have assembled nearly all of my cages. It gets easier over time. I've cheated by looking up clearer instructions on line. The first one we assembled didn't have all the screws or instructions. That was fun....not.

Agreed, this is the size Chico has now. He's out all day on the weekends and as soon as my other half gets home from work in the afternoon. I am hesitant to go any smaller, I would love to go larger :D however, we'd have space for little else at this time. I'd be interested to see what you decide on!

I'll post a pic later after work of my cage, but I thought those really heavy ones with the new finish couldn't be assembled. am I wrong?

Jezebel spends maybe 2/5 of her time in the cage.

Most that I am aware of these days to come in pieces that are fairly easy to assemble.
