Regurgitating Macaw - What do we do?

The advice I have always been given is that if my Macaw started to regurgitate for me to ignore it and walk away. Not to encourage this behaviour.

I was under the impression this could lead to unwanted, perhaps aggressive behaviour.

I have 2 macaws, both will regurgitate for me. I only pet and preen them around the head and neck area.

So, what is the bottom line on regurgitating? What is the worst that can happen?

Well, you could get a nice big gollop of upchucked food, yuck. It can also lead to hormonal behaviour, which can lead to aggression, health issues..... and a sexually frustrated bird. You want to make it clear to them that you love them in a friendly kind of way.

Thank you. So far no icky hurled food but again, I have been walking away and discouraging this behaviour.
