A couple of DAYS??!! Bacteria form in moist food after a few HOURS. I'd suggest putting some unpasturized organic apple cider vinegar in the birds drinking water (1-2 tablespoons per 2 cups) every day for 2 weeks.

I definitely agree with Frank! Mold and bacteria groes rampant on sprouts. They must be rinsed with a water/apple cider vinegar mix daily. Add a few dribbles to his water each day.

I asked the same questions a couple months ago. I sprout seeds every day now, it is really easy. Any seed mix will work but it is great to include a variety of grains. I went to our local bulk store and bought several grain types including wheat, kamut, hulless barley, spelt, quinoa, raw buckwheat, millet and whole oats. Soak this mix in water overnight. I add a drop or two of vinegar in the water, to discourage bacteria. In the morning, drain the seeds and rinse them well. Let them sit in a small strainer on the counter and rinse them well at least three times a day. Try to keep them in dim room, not under direct light. By the second day you should have sprouts. You can store the seeds in a container in the fridge for a few days once they start sprouting. I still rinse them at least once a day during refrigeration.
Have fun sprouting |

Thanks all I just read that... It also isn't a good idea to sprout with vitamin enriched seed mixtures as bacteria will grow even faster. So definitely use the treatments above as Keewee may have some poisoning already.
Even dry seed should be replaced fresh every day. Try putting less in daily, so there is less waste.

the vitamin enriched ones are fun to watch when you rinse them off. Love the pretty orange color!! lol I have sprouted Volkman's seed mixes before but stopped because there is always more then just seed in the mixes as well.
