update on sparky

hi took sparky to a different vet today, and it was not good news , the vet as put him on baytril 2.5% 1mls twice a day, we hve to take in fecal test in tommorow, he is under weight, got tempeture, fast heart beat, where hoping for the best , but the vet said he may not pull through, we were obvously sold a sick bird , i am devistated, thank you everyone for all your help.

Im so sorry to hear that Leila. I hope that everything goes well at the vet and you are able to take your bird home healthy. I'll keep you in my thoughts, Im sorry he's so sick. I hope things works out, please keep us posted. Can you talk to whom you got him from?

So sorry Sparky is not well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. Did the vet say what might be causing this? Keep a thick towel in the bottom of whatever cage you have him in, in case he is weak and loses his balance, he will land on a soft surface. Give him all of his favorite foods to keep him eating. Poor baby. Keep us posted.

I'm sorry.. did the vet this time tell you about keeping him warm, etc? I'd be wanting to strangle the first vet for not doing the bloodwork. Poor guy... Hopefully all will go well and the meds will help. Did this vet to any other testing to find out exactly what kind of bacteria or fungus, etc. might be making him sick? I'll keep you and your little guy in my thoughts... Just wondering, did you have this guy quarantined from your existing bird? Or is the vet going to examine your other bird, too? Some of their worst illnesses are airborne...

hi the vet took sparkys tempeture and checked his heartbeat, we are taking fecal sample in tomorrow, the vet that we took him to today comes highly recomended, hopefully if sparky makes it he as a appointment with the vet again thursday, in the meen time the vet is doing all that he can ,

You should send a copy of the bills to the person you bought the bird from. Did you sign anything?

I really hope that all goes well... you have to think positive, no matter how bad things look. I'm glad this is a good vet! With birds they get so sick with little time of realizing they're ill... and they can't tell you what's wrong, either. Lots of positive vibes coming your way...
