Opportunity for an Eccy, need advice..URGENT

I have the opportunity to rehome an female Eccy for $450-500. I have 2 suns and 2 tiels. I'm trying to determine if this is a good price. She is 8 mos old and of course a beautiful bird, but i know that they have special diets and then you have the added vet bills. I know that she would get the attention that she needs and craves, but I'm just wondering if this is a "once in a lifetime" type of thing. Any thoughts?

Thats definitely a good price considering she is only 8 months old so still very much a baby. I dont know anything about diets but I dont think its anything too complicated, nothing that you probably couldn't handle. You are right about the vet bills though, about having more. However, do you know the person this bird is coming from? Can you obtain history or vet records, hatch history, etc?? Remember to ask yourself if you have the room and the time to train/tame another bird. I would get all the information you can before you make a decision, but really I dont think its a bad price.

My ekkie mainly eats a fresh diet. I cook corn muffins, vegie mushes, & chop up fruits every day.

It's a lot of work but a labour of love for my sweet little baby.

Actually, your other birds would benefit from such yummy meals! My GCC is usually in the cage with her at breakfast time, checking out what she's got! I always give a small bowl to the Nanday as well!

If you do get her feel free to PM me and I can give you some yummy food tips! I have cheat ways as well for busy mornings when i don't have time to make her a 'proper' breakfast!

You won't regret her. They are amazing birds. So smart and so pretty.

Well, we did it, we went and picke her up last night. She is so beautiful and heavy..lol. I'm used to the conures who are really light. The reason she was being re-homed was their dogs were very jelous and she discovered she had allergies. So, I have her up in our bedroom away from the other birds and she is the sweetest thing ever.

OMG another Iowa person! I saw this on craigslist, my issue with it is eclectus are great for people with allergies because they don't produce the same type of dander as other birds so I really question her reason for rehoming but anyway gratz on your new bird :) I bet you don't live too far from me!

I think the main reason was the dogs, and it was good anyway becuase she was eating Zupreem Fruit pellets and had 1 toy. She will have many and be very spoiled here, she really enjoyed my birdy bread this morning. But I need to figure out a way to get her into a bath/shower, she is stinky.
