Let the Countdown Begin! Olive is coming home!

Olive comes home in 5 days! 5! AH! Im starting to get nervous.

(O, and for those who remember, her name was going to be Montana aka Monty…but my mom killed that name.)

I have everything almost all ready for her. I have her cage all built and set up. I have the travel cage ready to go. I will be making an appointment with the vet so that we can see him on our way home. (since they are closed on Sundays and too early for me to make it over there on weekdays after work). I have bird proofed my room as well as I know how…I hid all of the chords, got a couch cover, bought a covered trash can and a few other random things.

All I need to do is find out what type of food the breeder feeds her so that I can get the same stuff.

Im so excited! I cant wait to cuddle with her, give her scratches, watch her take a bath, watch her enjoy all of her new fun toys, listen to her chirp and make noise…all the great fun bird stuff! Of course, I know she will need some time to settle, and I will gladly give it to her. I want a happy healthy birdy for many years to come! It sounds weird, but I cant wait for all of the not so fun birdy stuff either. I cant wait until we start to interact and learn each others behaviors and antics. The next few months should be very interesting!

I cant wait!!!!

She looks like a sweetie. She will be really pretty when her all her colors come in after a molt. Sounds like you have a good start up plan. It's funny how every bird has a different personality. I was used to cockatiels as a child and I thought every bird was going to be timid and slow to adjust like a tiel. I got my GC thinking I was in for a long adjustment period with him just sitting in the cage and acting afraid. I only put two toys in the cage when I set it up because I didn't want to scare him. Boy, was I shocked. On the drive home from the breeder he escaped from the box four times to sit on my husband's hand LOL. At home he jumped in his new cage like he owned it and started eating from the dish within 45 seconds. Two minutes later he had discovered the two toys I had placed and was looking for more. He is such a character with no fear of anything. Don't be surprised if your GC settles in fast. Of course, every bird is different but that has been my experience. I just love CGs because of their bold attitudes.

Don't forget to post lots of pictures of Olive. Sounds like she will have a great home

Thank you everyone! I made an appointment with the only avian vet in town, and it looks like I will have to get off work early on Tuesday to take her in. I kinda wanted to take her on my way home, just so we could get it all over with in one shot...but o well.

I just need to call the breeder now to set up a day to pick her up. I really want to get her on Saturday, but might have to wait until Sunday as she only has a 72 hour window in which the bird needs to be seen by a vet.

Sweetnlow - That sounds so cute! I hope she isnt timid. She wasnt really tame when I went and picked her out, but after about 30 mins of me holding her in a blanket she started sitting on hands and shoulders...and she has been indoors with the breeder since I saw her last. So, I hope she will be outgoing. And I really hope she likes all of her toys!

Parrotbay - How exciting! Ill bet you are more excited than I am, having only to wait 2 more days! You must post pictures of your baby when you get her home as well! I saw the ones xafsmom posted and she is beautiful!

I hope 5 days goes really fast for you and can't wait to see photos.

2 more days! I pick her up officially on Sunday at 1.

I have more than enough stuff to keep me busy at work today...MORE than enough. But I know I will keep getting distracted.

And tomorrow, I have more than enough stuff to finish getting ready for her to keep me busy.

But, I know the next 2 days will go by soooo slow!
