Question Green Winged - Your thoughts

Green Wing Macaw and Large Cage

There is a GW up for adoption on CL in my town. He wants $1,100. for the bird and the cage which I think is high. It is a young bird, 2 years old but considering they live to be 60-80 who cares.

What would you all think is a fair adoption fee?

I also don't need the cage, I have a huge one that I use as a spare.

For a 2 yr. old. I think it sounds about right. From what i've seen. I just paid $800.00 for my 11 yr. old blue & gold.

Maybe I am spoiled. My Blue and Gold was given to me and I adopted my Green Winged from Birdloversonly rescue for I think less than $500. and she had vet records, was DNA'd etc.

And don't get me wrong. I would rather save back and spend the money to buy the best for the bird! Toys, Nutriberries, fruit, veggies and all that! I would just rather spend the money to spoil the bird!

Have you emailed this person and asked if they are willing to come down on price?? I think the bird itself looks great and the cage looks big an awesome. I think as the seller Id probably go down to $800 but only if that guaranteed an amazing forever home and the person promised to give me updates on a monthly basis and throughout the rest of his life. I understand wanting to save money, but I think $1100 is actually reasonable for the bird including the cage. As I said, you can always talk to the owner and see if anything can be done - I think it really depends on the owner.

I send emails and photos on a regular basis to all the previous owners of my birds because they really did care about them.

I actually do not need the cage and he could sell it seperately. He has had this bird posted for several months.

For the bird only...$500?

They are upwards of $10000 around here, so sounds like a good deal to me :)

The bird is worth what you are willing to pay.
