Hybrids....

I know that a lot of members here do not support hybrid breeding. I would just like to know the hybrids you can get from crossing two parrots of different species. I have seen the "gallatiel" post and it got me interested in the hybrids. Could you guys name few? If you have pics, that would be great also.

Note: I am NOT doing this to see if I could "experiment" with birds.

Monica is the hybrid queen! No one can hold a candle to the amount of info on hybrid-anything-bird she has!

Go figure, I don't even have a hybrid!!!! Is there a particular species you are wondering about? Or just in General?

I already know I can't name off all the hybrids!

I don't really like AvianWeb or Animal-World websites, but both have a lot of "info" on hybrid macaws.
Hybrid Macaw Parrots, Names and Definitions With Photos of Hybrid Macaws
Hybrid Macaws

Cockatoo Hybrids
Galah x Corella(s)
Galah x Cockatiel
Galah x Goffin
Galah x Sulphur Crested

Umbrella x Moluccan

Umbrella x Triton
Red Vent x Goffin
Sulphur Crested x Triton
Sulphur Crested x Blue Eyed

Major Mitchel x Corella
Citron x Corella

When I mention Sulphur Crested too's, it could be the lesser, medium, or greater. An Ozzie may be able to fill in more in regards to the 'Too hybrids, and no, I didn't know all these off-hand!

There's quite a few hybrid eclectus, easily done because males of a species/subspecies are harder to distinguish than the females.

In regards to amazon hybrids, well there's quite a few out there, but they hardly get any show-life. I've seen pictures of a hybrid MRA, wild caught, but I don't recall what he was a hybrid with. If you'd like to know about the hybrid zons, you might have to ask an amazon expert that's been around for a long while. I can tell you this much, there are hybrids of double yellow head, yellow napes, and blue fronts.

Of course there are the Congo x Timneh hybrids as well...

Conure hybrids, there are so many, again, I wouldn't be able to name them all off!
Green Cheek x Black Capped
Green Cheek x Maroon Bellied
Green Cheek x Painted (and/or Pearly)
Green Cheek x Sun
Green Cheek x Nanday
Green Cheek x Yellow Sided (not the mutation, the species/subspecies)
Green Cheek x White Eyed (aratinga? no info)
Sun x Jenday
Sun x Nanday
Sun x Peachfront
Sun x Blue Crown
Jenday x Nanday
Gold Capped x Sun
Gold Capped x Jenday
Cherry Head x Mitred

Dusky x Nanday

Half Moon x Peach Front

There's also a lot of lory hybrids.... I'm not really *into* the lories as much as the "regular" (non-nectar eating parrots), but I do know that there are *A LOT* of lory hybrids out there. Again, here, ask someone who's been around lories for a long while!

Some other hybrids include the following...
Indian Ringeck x Alexandrian (mostly for mutation crossover)
Hybrid Eyering Lovebirds (again, mutation crossovers)
Princess Parrot x Scarlet Chested Parakeet
Rosella x Kakariki
Red Front x Yellow Front Kak Hybrids
Hahns x Sun Conure?
Hahns x Blue Crown Conure
Hahns x Nanday
Noble x Mitred
Blue and Gold Macaw x Patagonian Conure (unconfirmed but pictures indicate so!)

There's a lot of hybrids out there that I don't know about. There are even breeders hybridizing parrots, but not letting the general public know. In fact, one breeder is trying to recreate an extinct macaw species via hybridization. I'll let you know this much.... I'm not supposed to know that information!!!!!

And of course, who knows how many other hybrids are out there that are going unreported. A lot of those hybrids I've mentioned above I've had to Google as I don't keep a current list, and I tend to forget things... but I hope that's what your looking for?
