Question about Patagonian classification

Hi guys ..

I had heard that Patagonian Conures were being reclassified and taken out of the conure family, and being moved into the Mini Macaw family

Is this correct?

I'm just curious as I just acquired my newest addition to the flock. She's a 1 1/2 yr. old Patagonian. I've wanted a Patty for the longest time, and when she crossed my path, I new I had found "one" of my dream birds.

She's still getting acclimated to her new environment, but is very sweet, although a bit shy.

Here's a few pics. I haven't decided on name for her yet .. she was being called "Pattie", but I just can't have a Patagonian named "Pattie" .. just doesn't work for me .. lol.

According to Sibley and Monroe and the record on CITES it's still good ol' Cyanoliseus patagonus.

Golden Conures have also supposedly been reclassified as macaws....

Personally, I think the mini-mac are actually conures!!!! Heard one scream, and it sounded more like a conure than a macaw!

Huh! I guess Caillou should be reclassified as a ringneck then.

I'm sure there is a little more too it than just one or two features. I haven't heard about it.

The Hahns and Nobles are reclassified into kinda-conures... With their reclassification to Diopsittaca. Diopsittaca is the bridge from Ara to Aratinga.
