Aviator Harness for litte birds (particularly conures)
Okay, so...I have done the slow slow gentle introduction with the flight suit with Luca, thinking it was a better idea than the aviator which seems difficult for a small bird...
She was fine. I worked for weeeeks introducing it to her. Away from the cage, by the cage, on me, touching her...and yet, when I try to put it on?
INDIGNANT LUCA RAGE.
Seriously. In fact, she even tore away from me at one point when it was partly on her wing (and i was excited over my victory), grabbed it, and pulled it right back off.
Luckily, even after this ordeal Luca still loves me. Her love is unconditional. Her rage is not.
Anywho....so now I'm thinking the aviator may be a better fit for her. Not so obtrusive and honestly the method of putting on the flightsuit seems a bit whacked to me. How precisely is one to "place the bird on the suit" if one can't actually get the bird to STAY on the suit for even a second?
But, I can put on an aviator harness pretty easily, so with luca this may be better because she won't feel enclosed. I mean...I don't think it feels much different from being toweled in a way and she HATES that.
So my usual inane rambling aside....I'm trying to find out what sort of experiences if any you guys have had with putting a little fid in an aviator harness? Any issues? Does it seem too cumbersome?
I want to be able to take Luca (and eventually Karis) outside without a cage once in awhile, and this would be a great way to do it if...yanno, it actually works out. o.0;
