Introduction to Training Parrots with

Training birds with positive reinforcement involves focusing on kind
and gentle methods to create desired behaviors. This mini-workshop
offers attendees the opportunity to become familiar with some of the
basic strategies and concepts used to train birds.
• Practical behaviors: step up, going
into a kennel, and stepping onto a
scale.
• Entertaining behaviors: turn around,
wave, and kiss on cue.
• Behavior problems and medical
treatment: Positive reinforcement can
also be used to solve behavior
problems and train birds for medical
behaviors, including voluntary nail
trims and even blood draws and
vaccinations.
