What happens at a bird show?
This is probably a dumb question. But are the 'shows' more like expos, or are there actual competitions going on. If so, on what? Colors? I thought Betta shows were confusing, but then i was thinking what would they test birds on.
Anyways, sorry for the silly question!

A Bird Show is a competition where birds are judged on various catagories. The shows can contain one breed or many breeds.
A Bird Mart is an event where vendors set up and sell their products. This can be live birds (usually babies), toys, food, lighting, etc. Bird Marts are some times referred to as Bird Shows (mistakenly). Hope this helps. I'm sure others will chime in!

Bird Fairs, Expos or Marts feature Breeders and Vendors of bird related and bird owner related items such as cages, feed, treats, toys, perches, shirts, books, cleaning supplies, etc. They are usually priced lower than retail stores plus there are usually a lot of items that retail stores don't carry.
A Bird Show is a breed competition, usually with credentialed judges. However, most bird shows also have a vendor component for supplies and the same items as above. Both usually have Raffles which is a fundraiser for either a bird club or a fid worthy cause. I have been a vendor at both and usually the crowd is the same, plus it is fun to see the show birds. The show cockatiels are almost twice the size of mine, lol, but they are all pretty birdies.

We call them "bird shows" here ....its not a competition per se, but a show where the vendors have their birds and supplies up for sale....the official name for the big one we have here is Birdbrain Express Exotic Bird Expo.....bird show for short....
