Bird fair, etc in Seattle area

We are receiving our first bird in the July timeframe (a male Eclectus). This gives us a good shot at researching and finding a good cage. However, I am finding that the few stores around our area tend to have a small number of cages available. What I'd really like to do is visit a bird fair where a number of vendors are showing their offerings. However, I can't find anything forthcoming in the Seattle area. Does anyone have any pointers (or, for that matter, a pointer to anywhere within, say, a 50 mile radius where I can see a good range of cages)?

Thanks.

Mark

The only show I know of is the Olympic Bird Fanciers show. But I have never been, so I can't say if they have a lot of cages to look at there.

I think it is a fairly small show.

You'll likely just have to go by the reviews of the different cages available online. If you see one that you think might work for you, just start a thread asking for input about it. :) Myself, I like kingscages.com.

Welcome!

Thank you, Beth. Yes, that does look like a small club so probably not the wealth of cages I am looking for :-) One of the things I was hoping to address at a larger show was the subjectivity that comes with choosing a cage. I agree that I'll get some good feedback about the utility of a cage on forums such as this but until I see a cage it's pretty difficult to know how it would go in our home, decor wise. But I will probably end up shopping online, as you say.

Thanks again.

I normally go to Apollos bird store located in Everett. The owner has always been more then willing to order me a cage from one of the many brands she carries and she has about 10 different cages on hand.

Thank you so much - we will certainly make the trip to check them out. I'll generalize this a little further and make the call for any bird shop of note from Tacoma to Everett :-)

Thanks.

Denny's Pet World in Kirkland (Totem Lake Mall) has a decent cage selection and are willing to order, at least it gives you a chance to see a few different brands, if you visit the different stores :-)

We purchased a Prevue cage from Denny's and got a great price, a little better than if I had ordered online, because of no shipping costs - they ordered it for us and had it within a week.
