Bird Club or Show in Seattle?

I recently moved to the Seattle area, and was expecting there to be a bird club or show of some sort. I have searched numerous times online and couldn't find anything in the area. Does anyone know of either a club type organization that is near Seattle? Also interested in a possible show/expo?

I have had my Quaker, Kiwi, since January and now that he is very tame and getting better trained I think he needs some excitement away from our apartment! I want him to be social with other parrots/people. Unfortunately not ONE person I know likes or has birds :( And I don't know where to meet someone who does...

Anyway, just curious if anyone knows of anything. Thanks!

Yeah, there's not much out here.

There's a SeattleParrots Yahoo group, and there are a couple of indoor fly groups.

SeattleParrots : For Seattle-area parrot owners to chat, commiserate, and arrange get-togethers with our birds
NorthwestAvianFlyers : Northwest Avian Flyers
SeattleFlyers : Seattle Flyers (i think this is the second one - I've lost my links)

The only bird club I know of is NWEBS, but I'm not sure how happenin' it is:
Northwest Exotic Bird Society

I'm in Bellevue. Welcome to Seattle!

Welcome to Seattle! I'm in Maple Valley (way out in the boonies, I know!)

There is a bird fair that Olympic Bird Fanciers put on last year, it looks like they are doing it again this year in September.

Thier link is: Olympic Bird Fanciers

I don't know how happening NWEBS is, thier meetings are right when I'm sposed to be home feeding and playing with Joey, so I have yet to make it to one.

Hmmm... perhaps those of us active on BirdBoard should form a new Seattle Parrot club?

Have you ever been to that Olympic bird fair? I was curious if it was worth making the trek to go see. It's so expensive to get there. I wish they had some sort of fair on this side of the sound!

We used to have a cool thing that happened every 6 months or so. A local bird toy warehouse would open its doors as a fundraiser for bird causes. You could choose from a huge selection of toys for 10% over wholesale. I got a ton of stuff from those. But they've recently moved into a smaller warehouse and can't do the sales anymore because there is no room for people to get around. It was awesome though! I heard about it on the SeattleParrots yahoo group.

No, I couldn't make it last year, it was right after we got Joey and I heard about it too late.. but I think I'll do the trek this year!

That is a cool event! Too bad they don't do that anymore! This area is seriously lacking in parrot support gatherings, that is for certain!

Something like the Olympic Bird Fanciers is what I was looking for... too bad they're pretty far away :( I am surprised there is nothing else! It would be fun to go to the Olympic bird fair, I'll have to keep that in mind.

I live in Puyallup, Washington and we used to have a bird fair every spring at the Puyalluo fairgrounds. But the price to set up a booth there got too high and the bird people went elsewhere. I have been searching online to find a birdfair or a birdmart. Looked at both the exotic bord society and olympic bird fanciers and did a general search on google and still nothing. Anybody have any inside info? Still looking.
