Smile Central Indiana Bird Fair November 8

Looking through some of the other threads, I came across the central Indiana Cage-Bird club website. (Central Indiana Cage-Bird Club - Meetings) They have a fair coming up in less than a week and I'm considering going to it. I was wondering if anybody else had been to one of their fairs? I have never been to a bird fair and would like to kind of get a feel of what they include. I do not own a bird at the moment, but am hoping to add an African Grey to the family in the near future. Do bird fairs sell actual birds? Is it advised to buy a bird from a bird fair? Also, how do prices normally run on CAGs or TAGs at bird fairs? Also what other kind of things can I expect at a bird fair? I already have a huge cage and play stand, but am in need of some more toys! Sorry for all the questions, I'm a total newbie to bird fairs!

I just had a terrible experience at a Bird Fair (you can read my little except on my blog).

I would strongly suggest reading the information on xafsmom's site about these as well: Dangers of Bird Fairs

One more thing, from my brief experience at the Bird Fair, the prices were pretty steep! You will be far better off to find a breeder from the this board, not only will it be a fair price, but also you will end up with a far healthier bird.

eep!

I wasn't trying to be too scary. I went into the Bird Fair that I went to thinking it would be a great place to look at and find some cool toys (and toymaking supplies). I just wasn't prepared for what I saw.

I'm sure results may vary....

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm all for sharing this kind of important information!

I don't think we have bird fairs here in the UK. I've never seen one advertised and have never read about them on any UK forums.

Thank you for the info! Am I allowed to ask for suggestions on TAG and CAG breeders on here? I'd rather not break the rules on like my first month on this forum!
