Cook the veges?
My gcc will eat a wide variety of fruit but he is not at all keen on veges. He'll eat a bit of grated carrot and zuchinni and that's about it. I have tried tempting him by eating veges in front of him and he'll try them but doesn't appear to like them. Do you cook the broccoli, spinach or cauliflower etc first?
He'll eat corn but I read that the green veges are the most important. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. |

Spinach I heard is best fed cooked, if at all...
Broccoli and carrots may also need to be lightly steamed to make them more digestable. White potatos are best fed cooked (as far as I know) but sweet potatos can be fed raw (different families - nightshade vs morning glory) Have you tried a recipe such as the Kitchen Sink?

have you tried putting the veggies into birdie bread? also, i have a grater that chops up the veggies real fine and i mix that with either their bean mash or whatever i feed them. so even if they pick through, by default they have to get some fresh veggies....

I haven't tried the kitchen sink or birdie bread yet - firstly because I'm not that great in the kitchen and thought I'd try the simplest method first and work my way up!! Also he doesn't seem to like soft or mushy type food - like mashed sweet potato or eggs. What is the kitchen sink and how do you do the bean mash - 'cause I'll give them a go.
Thanks for the replies :) |

Here's the Kitchen Sink....
Lissa's Kitchen Sink Rice and Beans Bean mash.... esaily just cook up a bunch of safe beans, and mash em altogether if you want! Add veggies! Or take a bunch of cut up veggies and add to corn bread!

Thanks for the advice everyone - I offered 'Mr Fussy' some mashed sweet potato the other day and he ate it. (big win) It's only about the 20th time I've tried him with it!!! I'm just going to keep trying all sorts of veges (in various stages of being cooked) - and if I ever get off my current run of night shifts I'll cook up some birdie bread for him. He has also been eating some broccoli (partially cooked) too. After much persevering and me looking ridiculous with my antics of having to share it with him he has finally decided he likes it.
