Corn bread mix is a very easy and inexpensive way to make the bread too.

I use fruit juice instead of the milk when I make birdie bread..

I also use Jiffy cornbread mix with apple juice in place of milk. I also leave the shell on the egg. I mix a little bit of everything, no sugar added fruit cocktail, frozen veggies, pellets, little bit of seed, sliced almonds, raisins, etc. Make it a good consistency & fill mini muffin tin. 1 box will do a large mini muffin tin. I then freeze the muffins and heat them one at a time in the microwave for 30 seconds-1 minute (I can't remember right now we're on a crazy corn kick right now. I have a few varieties made so I haven't made birdie bread in a few months).

How long will my birdie bread last in the freezer? I only have one bird, so if I make a huge batch will it go bad before he can eat it?

Also... do you guys have any other recipes for me to try... my bird won't eat pellets! He is going through a hard time right now so I would really like new and fun recipes for us to try and cheer him up!

Thanks so much for all of your advice and recipes, you guys have a lot of great ideas... I'm not so creative :-(.

I just ordered a cookbook from amazon but I haven't used it yet. It looks like a lot of great recipes.

Amazon.com: The Healthy Bird Cookbook: A Lifesaving Nutritional Guide and Recipe Collection: Robin Deutsch: Books

Kermit also likes sweet potato puffs. The site is down right down. They were very simple. If you want the link I can put it up later.

I only had one bird until last month. I usually keep them about a month in the freezer. Sometimes I throw the last few out. It really isn't very expensive when you use the jiffy. I basically just use what I have laying around.

Awesome book I have it and have only made bread once so far and today I made a western omelet style of scrambled eggs which Echo just loved. So many ideas and easy recipes in the book. I highly recommend it!!!
