Question Need help with Sprout people order?

Hi All,

I would really like to try sprouts for my cockatiels and my YNA. I really like the sprout people's website and I was thinking of ordering their medium bird sprouting kit. Anyone have any ideas what I should order or if this is a good first time order? I have never done this, and I want to make sure I am getting the right sprouts. I would like to place my order, but need your suggestions?

I ordered from sproutpeople.com just this past week, and my package arrived within 3-4 days. I got the "Bird Basics Sprout Kit" for $23.50, with the "Lil Bird" size seed mix.

My seeds are doing their first soak as we speak!

I order from them several times a year. Never had any problems, always the best sprouts with high germination.

The kit your talking about, the size is the size of seeds in the mix, not the size of the kit. It think they are all two pounds of seeds with an easysprout sprouter. That's the best sprouter in my opinion.

Correct - both kits come with 2 lb. of seed...you choose either the "Lil Bird" or "Big Bird" seed mix based on what kind of birds you have. It's a bit confusing because they have a ton of different "kits" on their website...but they are not all for birds - they are for people! They only have the two bird mixes.

Oh, I didn't realize they only had two for birds. I am going to give it a try! I really try to offer them the best diet, and I thought this was something that would be good for them, a little more interesting in the dish and healthy for them. Thank you for all your advice. I will let you know how it goes!

I've ordered from SproutPeople several times and have always been pleased with the service and quality of their products. Be aware that they are now "on vacation" (read Summer Vacation Alert) until July 7, so an order placed right now will not be processed till they return.
You may find that it takes some time for your Tiel and Amazon to get totally into eating sprouts, but it is well worth the minimal effort it takes to grow the sprouts. Also, sprouts have the best nutritional value when they are at their initial sprouting point, for many seeds this is in the 36-48 hour time from when you begin their first soak.
Good luck and let us know how your sprouting experience goes.

My first batch of sprouts will most likely be ready this evening, and I can't wait for my birds to try them. I know for sure one of my cockatiels will love them because he loves *everything*...it's always "bottoms up" whenever something new goes in his dish. Not sure of the other three but I'm crossing my fingers!

I cannot believe that 1/3 cup of seed turned into the entire sprouter being full of sprouts!

I use sprouts by China Prairie Company to success. They have two formulas. I use the Psittacine one, which has Hulled Sunflower Seed, Whole Yellow Corn, Whole Oat, Brown Rice, Hi Pro Wheat Berry, Whole Green Pea, Garbanzo, Mung Bean, Buckwheat, Millet, Fenugreek, Pumpkin Seed, Sesame Seed, Quinoa, Radish Seed, Mustard Seed, Red Clover Seed.

They have a great starter kit:

It comes with everything you need for proper sprouting and I've had extreme success, without any mold or whatnot that's a common sprout issue. It takes 2 minutes or less a day to keep a jar going. Easy work.
