grow your own millet??

I was wondering if anyone has ever experimented with growing their own millet before? I ended up growing some last summer by mistake (i cleaned his cage outside and some millet seeds must have survived). I decided to let it grow and see what happens, After a few months the millet was still green instead of that brown look. So any ideas on how to grow it? any information would be great. Thanks

I have some bird seed mix (mostly white millet, but some canary seeds and red millet) growing in a pot right now. But I only planted them a week ago. The grass is about 3 inches high now, so no idea yet what to expect.

How high does the plant grow and at what stage did you get the millets?

I was wondering if I could grow it also.
I'm sure that if you dry it out then it should turn out nicely?

I have accidentally grown it twice. The first time it got to be about 4 feet tall, and turned brown. I never gave it to my tiel because it grew next to our gas meter and i didn't want to take any chances. The second time which was a different house, only grew to be only about 2 feet.

Yup, I've done it. Millet likes a dry climate. Mine didn't get very tall, but you could definitely see the formation of millet. Its green, but you hafta take it and dry it, then it'll turn brown. I was going to grow some more this summer, but it got too hot and I put it off for too long. Next year, maybe.
